Job Description and Duties:

The Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments (WRCOG) is seeking a Transportation Program Manager. This position has the primary responsibility for coordinating the day to day administration of the bi-state Grand Strand Area Transportation Study Metropolitan Planning Organization (GSATS)(Myrtle Beach-Socastee SC/NC MPO). Responsibilities also include participation in long and short range planning, work plan development, and financial management of the transportation program, with programmatic responsibilities in North Carolina and South Carolina.

The WRCOG offices are located in the historic City of Georgetown, which is on the coast of South Carolina just south of Myrtle Beach. WRCOG is a regional agency serving county governments, municipalities, and the citizens of Horry, Georgetown, and Williamsburg counties in South Carolina and Brunswick County in North Carolina. GSATS operates under the guidance of a twenty-four member Policy Committee comprised mostly of elected officials representing the bi-state study area. Qualifications:


A successful applicant must have a minimum of a master’s degree in planning or a related field with emphasis in transportation or transportation engineering and five or more years of progressive experience. Salary will be based on qualifications. A benefits package including health, dental, life, and retirement will be provided through the South Carolina Public Employee Benefit Authority.

Job Description and Duties:

The Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments (WRCOG) is seeking a Transportation Planner. This position will work in WRCOG’s planning department with primary duties in support of the department’s metropolitan (MPO), transit, and rural transportation programs. This position may assume lead responsibilities for projects in one or more of these transportation programs.
